Triple Crown winner Justify Retires with More Questions than Answers

Bob Baffert has seen it all.  In the span of four years, he has had three of the finest racehorses of our generation, winning two Triple Crowns with American Pharaoh and Justify, and training super horse Arrogate to one of the finest six month stretches in the history of racing.  But, for all Baffert possesses in terms of talent and skill, a lot of questions will be asked about deciding to retire Justify as an undefeated Triple crown winner.

Baffert retired the horse after filling showed up in an ankle after training at Santa Anita.  Instead of giving the horse additional time, the connections decided to retire the horse because of the $75 million dollar offer Coolmore Stud had offered for the colt.  So, instead of seeing one of the greats race as a four year old, we will have to wait until he produces some babies to see his offspring run.  Either way, we will never really know just how great Justify could have been, regardless of his spot as the 13th Triple Crown winner in thoroughbred racing history.
