President Donald Trump has done it again. Somehow, someway, he found a way to get on Twitter and chastise NFL players for their National Anthem stands. Doesn’t this guy have something better to do? Like play golf at his Trump National Golf Club in New Jersey? Oh, I forgot, he is playing golf at his resort.
I don’t know how the hell he does it, but our uniquely idiotic President again found time from his busy schedule to pipe in on the Anthem issue. Ironically, because it is preseason, nobody would have cared, nobody would have paid any attention to the few players who took stands this weekend had the President himself not made a big deal out of it.
In doing so, POTUS has had a tough week. He took on Lebron James, questioning his I.Q. which, as it turns out, was a big, big mistake. James had just opened up a school in Ohio for children less fortunate, reaching almost iconic status outside the game of basketball. Then, later in the week, the President took on the NFL players again too.
The reality is the NFL doesn’t know how to deal with any of this either. They tried to come up with a policy, then the players defied them anyway. While the protests were much more subdued this time, the reality is that the players are still challenging the NFL to do something. And, of course, they won’t because this is a lose-lose situation.
Peaceful protests in this country is part of the fiber of what makes America great. Our President, the Make America Great Again President, could learn something from that notion.
